| My
home studio is located in Lancaster city where I live with my wife and
three children. Lessons are held in my third floor studio and parents
are welcome to observe. The studio space can accommodate up to four students.
ABOUT THE CLASSES
I think of being able to draw from life (drawing what is front of you,
not from your imagination) as the fundamental skill for the visual arts,
drawing, painting and printmaking. Accordingly, I typically teach class
around drawing the still life, human skeleton or copies of master works.
This enables students to sharpen their perceptual skills while familiarizing
themselves with various drawing media. The
typical first lesson consists of drawing a simple still life composed
of various boxes, jars and vases…basic stuff. This enables me to
gauge the student’s abilities and to get a clearer idea of where
to go next. Depending on the parent’s expectations, we can concentrate
on drawing, painting or printmaking or any combination of the three.
COST
Cost for each
one-hour lesson is $25.00, which includes all materials. Currently, I
am running a Summer Special. If you sign up and take classes with a friend,
each receives a 20% discount.
PRINTMAKING
Most people are familiar with drawing and painting, but not everyone knows
exactly what I mean by printmaking. The kind of printmaking that I am
equipped to teach consists of putting an image on a material (in this
case linoleum ) and cutting it so that the
artist can make many copies of the image in the form of prints.
BOOKS
I also offer instruction in making hand made books. This is great fun.
If you are interested in learning some basic bookbinding, let me know,
as it is not something that I would ordinarily teach in the course of
regular lessons.
